Getting Familiar with Degrees and Fahrenheit

Temperature is used to measure how hot or cold something is. Temperature is measured in degrees of Celsius (°C) and degrees of Fahrenheit (°F).

Did you know?

The freezing point of water is $0^\circ$0°C or $32^\circ$32°F.

The boiling point of water is $100^\circ$100°C or $212^\circ$212°F.

Remember!

To convert °C to °F   —►  Multiply by $9$9, divide by $5$5, then add $32$32.

To convert °F to °C  —► Subtract $32$32, then multiply by $5$5 and divide by $9$9.

EXAMPLES

Question 1

Convert $25^\circ$25°C to Fahrenheit.

Question 2

Convert $-15^\circ$15°F to Celsius.

Give your answer to the nearest tenth of a degree.

Question 3

The average daily maximum temperature in a particular town in the month of July is $13^\circ$13°C.

What is this temperature in degrees Fahrenheit? Give your answer as a decimal correct to one decimal place.
