12.01 Picture graphs

Lesson

Are you ready?

Do you know how to count up by a constant number? Let's try this problem to practice.

Write the next number in the pattern:

  1. $1$1, $3$3, $5$5, $7$7, $9$9, $11$11, $\editable{}$

Learn

A pictograph, also called a picture graph, uses pictures and a key to show data. The key tells us how much each picture represents.

If the key says that each picture represents $1$1 unit, then we can read the data by counting up by $1$1s.

Let's learn more about picture graphs in this video.

Where each image represents $1$1 vote.

  1. How many students are in the class?

  2. Which sport received the most votes?

    Soccer

Remember!

Look at the key on a picture graph to help you understand what each image is representing.

Outcomes
