Multiply a two digit number by a 3 digit number

Lesson

To multiply a $2$2 digit number by a $3$3 digit number we are going to have to break it up into smaller multiplications and then add them all together, just like we did when we multiplied 2 digit numbers together.

The video below will show you how this works with an example. Then look at some worked examples for practice.

Worked Examples

Example 1

Find $70\times206$70×206.

Example 2

Find $243\times15$243×15.

Example 3

Find $642\times30$642×30.

Outcomes

NA3-6

Record and interpret additive and simple multiplicative strategies, using words, diagrams, and symbols, with an understanding of equality
