This activity is focused around two units of mass: grams and kilograms.
You will need:
Ask your teacher or parent for magazines or catalogs that they don't mind you cutting up.
Go through the magazine or catalog and cut out pictures of items that would have masses measured using grams or kilograms.
You can then make a collage out of the cut-out items, by pasting them onto the construction paper.
Let's say you have two bags. One bag is filled with 1 kilogram of sand, and the other bag is filled with 1 kilogram of feathers.
Now let's say you have two bags of the exact same size. One bag is filled with sugar and the other bag is filled with dry macaroni pasta.
Is the size of the object always a direct indication of the mass? Explain your thinking.
