Sometimes a problem is given as a story or description, and might not have a picture shown. When this is the case, we will need to read through the story and find all of the important details.
When faced with a story problem, start by determining what value we are trying to solve for - this will often be in the last sentence. After that, look back through the rest of the story to find out what other information we know that we can use to solve the problem.
It can sometimes also be helpful to draw a diagram, labeling the known information and unknown value.
