Class VII

Triangle problems (isosceles and equilateral)

Lesson

Lets remind ourselves about the properties of some special triangles.

Equilateral triangles

In an equilateral triangle:

  • All sides are equal lengths
  • All angles are degrees(60)

Isosceles triangles

Isosceles triangles have:

  • Equal base angles

We can use these special properties to help us solve triangle problems.

Worked Examples

Question 1

Find the value of $x$x

Question 2

Find the value of $x$x

Question 3

Consider the given diagram.

a) Find the value of $a$a, giving reasons.

b) Find the value of $b$b, giving reasons.
