Number (mult/div)

Lesson

When we have a multiplication and division table with gaps that need to be filled in, it helps to think about what we are looking for.

- If we know our total, we need to share, so division helps us.
- If we are looking for a total, then multiplication helps to find that total.

Have a look at some examples to see how tables can help. Do you see a connection to fact families here?

Solve problems involving the addition, subtraction, and multiplication of whole numbers, using a variety of mental strategies (e.g., use the commutative property: 5 x 18 x 2 = 5 x 2 x 18, which gives 10 x 18 = 180)
