Round numbers (to 1000's)

Lesson

In What whole number do I round to?, we looked at how to round to the nearest ten or the nearest hundred. Now we are going to extend that idea and look at how to round to the nearest thousand.

Let's start by watching this video.

Remember!

$500$500 is half of $1000$1000. So when you're rounding to the nearest thousand, think about whether the hundreds value is above or below $500$500.

  • If it's $500$500 or above, round up.
  • If it's below $500$500 round down.
