Relationship between multiplication and division (0,1,2,3,5,10)

Lesson

Turn arounds and fact families are important to know when solving math problems. each multiplication fact has a turn around fact, where you turn around the factors you are multiplying to get the same answer. We can then build fact families from these using division.

I will explain this in more detail in the following video.

Worked Examples:

Question 1

Fill in the boxes with the missing numbers to complete the fact family.

  1. $5\times\editable{}=5$5×=5

    $1\times\editable{}=5$1×=5

    $5\div\editable{}=5$5÷=5

    $\editable{}\div5=1$÷5=1

Question 2:

Fill in the boxes with the missing numbers.

  1. $3\times3=\editable{}$3×3=

    $3\times\editable{}=9$3×=9

    $9\div\editable{}=3$9÷=3

    $\editable{}\div3=3$÷3=3

question 3:

Fill in the boxes with the missing numbers to complete the fact family.

  1. $0\times6=\editable{}$0×6=

    $6\times\editable{}=0$6×=0

    $\editable{}\div6=0$÷6=0

  2. What does $6\div0$6÷0 equal?

    $6$6

    A

    We can't evaluate $6\div0$6÷0

    B

    $0$0

    C

    $1$1

    D
