Add Multiples of 100's to Two Digit Numbers

Lesson

We've already added multiples of 100 to a single digit numbers. Now we are going to add multiples of $100$100 to a $2$2 digit number.

The process is going to be very much the same, however we are starting with a number with value in the units and the tens position.

$500$500 is a multiple of $100$100 because five $100$100s added together equals $500$500.

$100+100+100+100+100=500$100+100+100+100+100=500

If we start off with a $2$2 digit number, let's use $92$92 and we add $500$500 to it, we need to take $5$5 steps of $100$100 in the positive direction.

First step $92+100=192$92+100=192

Second step $192+100=292$192+100=292

Third step $292+100=392$292+100=392

Fourth step $392+100=492$392+100=492

fifth step $492+100=592$492+100=592

$92+100+100+100+100+100=592$92+100+100+100+100+100=592

$92+500=592$92+500=592

Let's see a visualisation of each step
