PRACTICE: Multiply by 5 and 10

Lesson

Practice

Now that we have learned about the connection between the $10$10 times tables and the $5$5 times tables, let's practice multiplying by fives and multiplying by tens together.

Apply

Question 1

$10\times7$10×7

Question 2

$10\times4$10×4

Question 3

$8\times5$8×5

Remember!

To find the answers for our $5$5 times tables we can use a halving strategy because half of $10$10 groups is $5$5 groups.

Alternatively, you can also reverse this strategy and double the answers to $5$5 times tables to work out the answers to the $10$10 times tables.

Outcomes

3.OA.C.7

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the properties of operations or the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 x 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8). By the end of 3rd grade, know all products of two one-digit numbers and related division facts.
