PRACTICE: Multiply by 2 and 4

Lesson

Practice

Multiplication looks at equally sized groups. Multiplying by two means finding the total of $2$2 equally sized groups and is the same as doubling. Multiplying by four means finding the total of $4$4 equally sized groups and can be found by doubling the number, then double the answer.

Apply

Question 1

$2\times8$2×8

Question 2

$4\times8$4×8

Question 3

$7\times4$7×4

Remember!
  • Double means "multiply by $2$2."
  • To multiply a number by $4$4, you can use the Double, Double strategy. That means, double the number, then double the answer.

Outcomes

3.OA.C.7

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the properties of operations or the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 x 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8). By the end of 3rd grade, know all products of two one-digit numbers and related division facts.
